AFFIRMING TRAINING

Welcome to another episode of Hiitblog. In the last blog i talked about scheduling training. Now you have your times worked out, i want to share a couple of ideas/methods to see that you keep to your "meeting".
A method i found to be very helpful is talking yourself into training/exercise. Lets call it "Training Affirmations". I personally started using this when i was training in martial arts (karate) several times a week, but can be used for any training. A very simple method of reinforcing positive thoughts.
This is what you do: say you've got a training session booked for the evening after work. As soon as you wake up, start telling yourself you are training later on. Throughout the day keep letting yourself know. Say positive things like, 'I'll feel great', 'It's good for me', 'I'm going to beat that time i did on the last session' etc. Hopefully by the time training comes, there are no negative thoughts, you've talked yourself into it and you're fired up and ready to go!
If you start telling yourself reasons "NOT" to train throughout the day, chances are you will have talked yourself out of it. Another tip is to prepare to train. When you get home your training clothes are set out waiting or your gym bag is ready to go. Same thing if you're training early morning, get everything prepped, including your breakfast if you know you'll be short on time. Being organized and prepared can be hugely beneficial to your overall well being.
